I was just reflecting upon what went wrong for KKR in the IPL:
- was it the multiple captain theory which Buchanan planned
- was it the removal of Saurav Ganguly as captain, and hence resulting in lack of motivation/ intensity among the young talent. Everybody knows Ganguly's capability in bringing out the best from raw talent
- was it the lack of captaincy experience for McCullum: afterall he probably doesn't even captain his side in provincial level. The best player is not necessarily the best person to lead the side - on the flip side, the team was deprived of his potential as the opening batsman
- was it the dearth of good local Indian talent in the team: afterall you need to have 7 local Indian players in the team. Ishant Sharma was not able to provide the early breakthroughs which other seamers like RP Singh, Malinga, Nannes, Munaf was able to provide. Similarly, in the batting front it revolved around the international players
- was it that plain luck: KKR lost all the close matches, and things really went downhill from the loss against Rajasthan in the super over
any other points?......
